On October 1st, 2024, the Clerk of Parliament, Mr Maxime BANGA, warmly welcomed a distinguished visit from the Vanuatu National Youth Council

and the She Can Lead Participants at Parliament.

The VNYC conveyed their enthusiastic support for the new Clerk and proposed a close collaboration for future youth parliament initiatives.

Mr. Joe H. KALO, the Youth leader, passionately expressed the urgent need for Parliament and VNYC to join forces in securing a better future for our youth.

He also stated that the VNYC is ready to support and participate in the next Youth Parliament.

The Parliament of Vanuatu has successfully organised two impactful Youth Parliaments, one in 2013 and the other in 2020.

As emphasized by a participant from the 2020 Youth Parliament, Mr George WORWORBU, who is now one of the youth leaders, these events have been pivotal in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow within our community. He also shared his testimony about how the Youth Parliament has impacted his professional career.

The Youth Parliament is an activity listed in the Business Plan of Parliament and is challenging to implement this year due to the country’s financial problem and Political Instability.

In response, the Clerk enthusiastically confirmed the upcoming youth parliament next year and extended a warm invitation for active youth participation.

Additionally, the Clerk proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the two parties to ensure effective collaboration and to define the mechanism for working together.

Let’s work together to empower the leaders of tomorrow and create a brighter future for our youth!
