For this 14th Legislature, the board consist of the Honourable Stephen Dorrick FELIX, the Chairperson and at the same time Speaker of Parliament and MP for Efate Rural Constituency, the Right Honourable Jotham NAPAT, Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu as member and MP for Tanna Constituency, the Honourable Ishmael Alatoi KALSAKAU MAU’KORO, Leader of Opposition and MP for Port-Vila Constituency, the Parliamentary Councillor Mr. Junior NATUMAN from the State Law Office and Mr. Maxime V. BANGA, the Secretary of the Board

The board has had its first meeting on Wednesday February 19 and as a result of its establishment the Parliamentary Secretariat can now fully operate and carry out its functions.

The Objectives of the Board

The Parliamentary Management Board is to provide through the Office of the Clerk a service of the highest professional standard to the Parliament and the people of Vanuatu by building a high-quality parliamentary service that is competent, accountable, ethical, impartial, and responsive to the needs of the people.

The Board’s objective is to be a good employer. An essential component of being a good employer is for the Board to provide a range of employment conditions and personnel policies that are fair, equitable, and meet the needs of employees while being simple to administer and cost effective to deliver.

 Powers and Functions of the Board

Under Section 10 of the Act, the major functions of the Board are:

  1. a) to oversee the efficient and effective management of Parliament;
  2. b) to determine the terms and conditions of appointment (including dismissal and suspension) of the Clerk, the Assistant Clerks and the other staff of Parliament;
  1. c) to oversee the management and operation of the Standing Committees and Ad Hoc Committees of the Parliament;
  1. d) to do such other functions as are conferred on the board by or under the Act.
