Two staff members from the Vanuatu Parliament travelled to the Solomon Islands to take part in the Solomon Parliament Outreach program.
This program is organized by the National Parliament of Solomon and sponsored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The Solomon Parliament will be conducting its outreach program in the Western Province of Solomon from 4th -16th October 2024. This event marks the first exchange following the signing of the Partnership Agreement between the two Parliaments in 2023.
The Solomon Parliament has a dedicated Civic Education Unit that focuses entirely on the outreach and civic education of Parliament, resulting in successful outreaches to remote areas of the Solomon Islands. Given their expertise, the Parliament of the Republic of Vanuatu has much to learn from its counterparts in the Solomon Islands.
This exchange aims to provide the participants with valuable insights into how the Solomon Parliament conducts its outreach. Mrs. Stephanie MAHIT, a Senior Staff of Vanuatu Parliament and currently chair of the Civic Task Force in Parliament, and Evelyne WOKON, a Member of the Taskforce, will be closely involved in this outreach.
They are expected to benefit from this experience to enhance the civic education activities of our Parliament.
This event marks a testament to the exceptional cooperation between the two Parliaments and signifies the beginning of a promising and mutually beneficial relationship.
Thank you, Solomon Parliament for the Invitation.
